RACHEL AND HER BROTHER DAVID AT HER WEDDING

January 31 was Rachel's birthday which is also her second daughter, Ariel's, birthday.  This photo is at Rachel's wedding.  I still can't get her dead--the bible says that God is God of the living, not the dead--we know that God is near us and that Rachel is with God--so...that means that she is not far away--right? I navigate grief every day--it seems to keep me close to her and centered on my great calling as the kid's guardian.  I receive so much amazing support.  Twenty people showed up at our recent move to a new, and bigger house--5 bedrooms near their school--a miracle in this crazy Napa, California economy.  Her children, Eva, Ariel, and Alex, are some kind of incarnation of her great spirit. There were many Facebook posts on her's and Ariel's birthday.  God is blessing my art work and the kids are growing strong in spirit and wisdom.  Don Hatfield

  2. Don, it is good to hear that you have so much support so close by. The children cannot understand the scope of how important your relationship with them is at their ages, but in time it will manifest and you will know the joy you so richly deserve as each of them blossoms to adulthood. I just know it. Blessings,
    Carol

  3. I found your wonderful art and blog sometime during the past few months, not knowing anything about what happened to your daughter till I saw this post. My heart goes out to your family--there are just no words...

  4. I sometimes forget to check your blog, but think of you almost every day. Your challenge and response to it are what's amazing. So glad to read you are still getting support locally. I want to drive over but continue to navigate my own mess. Didn't realize you were on FB--sent you a request.
