Guardian of the Vinyards

I just finished this for the lobby of the Yountville Inn.  It will hang behind the check in desk for all to see.  This was more fun and easier than figures.  I may paint a bunch of landscapes since they are so easy.  But you have to arrange all of the values in order or you will suck.  I think figures in landscape is on the horizon.  But I will have to find a studio first.

  1. I heard so much about this oak tree, its a treat to finally see it. Its wonderful, Don! It glows. Yountville Inn must be so pleased. Wish I could see it in person.

You're such a master and I love that you don't mimic the other masters who all seem to have similarities in their work. You're so gifted. Keep painting to show us how it should be done while retaining one's own voice.

  4. Gee, if this was easy you should pump out more like this. So gorgeous. How big is it?

  6. I'm glad to see you're reconsidering imminent retirement. It occurs to me that doing so at the height of your considerable ability would somehow be wrong.

  8. LOVE this painting! I thought it was a photograph at first, you've done that good a job! Thought I'd stop by and say hi since I haven't been around much. Been a bit swamped trying to catch up on 6 weeks of missed college! Anyway sir, I hope I find you in good spirits.

    Always, Heather
